Want & Repell

Try to stay afloat,
you will sink.

Try to sink,
you will stay afloat.

Try to fall asleep,
you will awaken.

Try to stay awake,
you will fall asleep.

This pattern is frequent: the more you want something, the more it eludes you.

It doesn’t happen with everything, some things yield to our will the more we put ourselves into it, but other’s behave this way… repelled from our intention as magnets of same sign.

Why? Why some of our wants will become more distant the more we work on them and some others don’t?

All this came to me while reading the first chapter of Consolations by David White on the word: ALONE.

Aloneness behaves like that: the more you seek it, the more it eludes you. The more you dread it, the more it haunts you.

Most feelings are like this.
